If you're in the San Francisco area, there's no reason not to stop by and get in on the fun. Here's everything you need to know about How To Score A Cruffin at Mr. Holmes Bakehouse in San Francisco:
What In The World Is A cruffin?
Also known as the "unicorn of pastries", the cruffin is a bigger-than-your-fist sized croissant baked in a muffin tin that's filled to the top with a creme in the flavor of the day. Spoiler alert: They taste as good as they look!
And The Flavor Of The Day Is ... ?
To find out what flavors are coming up, Mr. Holmes Bakehouse conveniently posts Flavor Updates on their Instagram page, @mrholmesbakehouse each Sunday.
How To Get A Cruffin 101
Before you arrive, grab a cup of your favorite coffee (Jane on Larkin is just a block away!) and get ready to wait your turn in line. When you get there, you will see two lines forming. One on the left (this is the cruffin line) and one on the right (for everything else). At approximately 8:45AM, you'll be handed the equivalent of a golden ticket (a pink Mr. Holmes sticker) which will grant you magic cruffins.
What Time Is Enough Time?
Although their doors open bright and early, the cruffins don't come out until 9AM. In order to safely secure one, I would recommend arriving at or before 8:15AM.
How Many Can I Get?
Due to high demand, there is a limit of 2 cruffins per person. Bring a friend, share the experience and enjoy your tasty treat!
What Happens If They Run Out?
Should you miss your chance at the heavily sought-after cruffin, be sure to try any number of the tasty pastries behind the glass case: a savory stuffed croissant, donuts bursting with cremes and jams, the monkey bread (a gooey concoction with puppy chow on top!), and -- for the cream puff lover -- their beloved choux bombs (pronounced "shoe") are simply delightful!
