LUXURY CABIN GETAWAY IN WACO, TEXAS

While Texas certainly has its big, urban metroplexes, did you know you could also find an escape from all the hustle and bustle by driving just an hour or two outside of several major Texas cities? Life keeps us busy, so unwinding with your loved ones in nature or escaping for a solo retreat off the grid is the perfect way to disconnect if you’re in need of a refreshing weekend getaway!

Growing up camping in Texas sparked my love for the outdoors, and if you don’t already know: I’ll take any opportunity to unplug in nature! Over time, I’ve also come to really appreciate luxurious amenities when traveling. Travel Texas’s Trip Builder Tool inspired me to seek out one of the many new glamping (aka glamorous camping) sites that have been popping up all over Texas.

From cozy yurts to futuristic bubble pods, Texas has plenty of luxury glamping destinations to choose from. I recently had the chance to explore one of the most beautifully designed lakeside cabins, and I just couldn’t wait to share my experience!

LIVE OAK LAKE in Waco, Texas

These modern, Scandinavian style cabins are located just 10 minutes from Downtown Waco, yet they feel like a world away! Live Oak Lake features 7 cabins nestled around a lake, equipped with everything you need for a relaxing weekend in nature. I had the best time recharging in complete comfort!

Each cabin features:

  • Floor to ceiling glass windows, bringing the outdoors in

  • Private hot tub

  • Outdoor patio and fire pit, perfect for staying warm or roasting s’mores

  • Comfortable beds and cozy linens

  • Full bathroom

  • Living area

  • Washer / Dryer

  • Kitchen, including an oven, fridge and freezer, dishwasher, and stovetop

  • Coffee pot / kettle for coffee and tea

  • Hammocks

  • High-speed Wi-Fi (if you need to work remotely)

  • Outdoor common area, including a grill, swings, kayaks, fishing dock, and a shipping container pool

I loved that the cabins were extremely inviting upon arrival and had all the amenities you would typically find at a hotel. Plus, the staff at Live Oak Lake truly embodied Southern hospitality and anticipated all our needs, even before we arrived!

After checking out, we spent the afternoon exploring Downtown Waco! Magnolia Market has been on my Texas bucket list for quite some time, so of course I had to make a stop before driving back to Dallas (if you’re also passing through Dallas, check out this post for some amazing things you cannot miss!).

Taking time to disconnect in the great outdoors and waking up to the sounds of nature always hits the reset button for me. I already cannot wait for our next getaway!
